This policy explains what happens to personal data when you visit this website or write to me through it. It follows the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, where it applies, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Therapy is covered separately
Anything you tell me in therapy is protected by professional secrecy. Nothing from therapy is stored on this website.
When you write to me
If you use the contact form or write to me by email, I receive your name, email address and message. I use them only to reply and, if you wish, to arrange a first meeting. Messages that do not lead to therapy are deleted when they are no longer needed.
Visitor statistics and cookies
The site is hosted by Squarespace. It uses a few essential cookies so that it works properly, for example to protect the contact form. It also uses Squarespace Analytics cookies to count visits and see which pages are read. These statistics are used only to improve the site. They are not used for advertising, and I do not use advertising or social media tracking.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. The site will still work.
Other services
The website and contact form are run by Squarespace (Squarespace Ireland Ltd. and Squarespace Inc., USA). Email is handled by Infomaniak in Switzerland. The Subscribe button leads to my newsletter on Substack, and some pages link to podcasts on Spotify or to publishers; those services have their own privacy policies. Some providers may process data outside Switzerland, including in the USA, with the safeguards required by law.
Your rights
You can ask what data I hold about you, and ask for it to be corrected or deleted, by writing to mert@mertulusoy.ch. If you think your data has been handled wrongly, you can contact the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC).
Changes
I may update this policy when the website changes. The date at the top shows the latest version.
